Santiago Park Nature Reserve is at 900 E. Memory Lane, Santa Ana, 92706. Calendar Santa Ana River Watershed Alliance Meeting (2nd Thurs. of every month) Get involved in the planning process of restoring a portion of the Santa Ana River back to native habitat. Lawnbowling Clubhouse, Santiago Park, Santa Ana, Thursday. 10AM-12PM. Restoration Days - Help restore Santiago Creek, the Santa Ana River, and other natural areas throughout the city. We will begin with an introduction to the history of the site and the processes we will be going through to restore them. Come for the talk, stay for the work. Held on the third Saturday of every month. 9AM-12PM. Moonlight Tours Experience the Santiago Park Nature Reserve at night when the owls and other nocturnal critters come out to play. First Friday of every month starting in October. 6:30PM-8:30PM. $2 fee. Santiago Creek Trail Walks Observe the unique adaptations, vibrant beauty, and ancient wonder of Orange County's indigenous plants. Encounter a diversity of resident and migratory birds. Track exciting wildlife, such as reptiles and small mammals. Sundays from 9AM-11AM. Wednesdays from 6PM-8PM. Meet at Santiago Park Lawn Bowling Clubhouse (510 E. Memory Lane). Outdoor Movie Nights Enjoy nature-related films in an outdoor setting. Many genres, including documentaries. Friday nights. Call for location and movie titles. 6:30PM-8:30PM. Cambridge Habitat Restoration Area Beautiful area of mature Riparian and Coastal Sage Scrub habitat between Cambridge Street and Hart Park, along Santiago Creek. Using grant money, the city of Orange has a contract with Richard Lewis of BonTerra Consulting to restore and enhance the natural communities to this section of the creek. The Santiago Creek Bike Trail passes through this area. There is an information kiosk as well as small signs to indentify certain native plants. The endangered Least Bell's Vireo was found in the area in spring of 2006. Download MAP.

El Modena Nature Center, Southern California Heritage Garden
If you're working on your garden, consider adding California Friendly plants. Adding native plants and shrubs to your landscape can help to save water and keep your water bills low.
To learn more about native plants and other gardening topics, visit the El Modena High School Nature Center a Southern California Heritage Garden. Visitors can tour the garden on the first Saturday of every month between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The school is located at 3920 Spring Street, Orange.
